The Mazant in New Orleans, Louisiana is an 1880s antebellum style home in the Bywater arts district, just over a mile from the famous French Quarter. The historic mansion is 5,000+ square feet with 1/3 acre of gardens, a bit of which you can see in the front yard of my watercolor painting.
"Your work takes my breath away, wow. It's incredible! I can’t wait to show the [art] to my husband. Thank you so so so much."
With 9 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, The Mazant is now being offered as both an Airbnb and wedding venue. My client and her husband were married at the property last fall.
The traditional first anniversary gift is paper, however since the couple doesn't yet own a home, a house portrait painting wasn't going to work. Instead, I was commissioned to paint a watercolor illustration of their wedding venue.
With it's many windows and balconies, the painting was less of a "Big Easy" and more of an exciting challenge, but what a charming keepsake it turned out be for these newlyweds to enjoy for years to come.
